Grants are not like loans, they are free money and do not need to be paid back. The money is given out by the US government, which they are required to do.
College grants are available to all US citizens or legal residents. If you are afraid of your credit history getting in your way, there is no need to be – receiving a grant doesn’t require a credit check.
It is amazing that only 15% of available grants out there today are applied for, despite the application being free and simple. Luckily there is also no limit to the amount of grants that you can apply for or the amount of money you can receive.

Even though applying for grants is free, being able to find all the available grants can be tricky. Therefore some companies offer software programs, generally costing between $30-$170, that will assist you in finding the right grant for you. What they don’t want you to know is that there is free software out there that does the exact same thing. We have taken a look at these free programs and come up with a list of our favorites below. With these free programs we were able to find grants ranging from $10,000 to more than $1,000,000, and searched on average for only about two minutes.
